The restaurants in the Palm Springs area are as good, if not better, than those in Los Angeles. You'll find the nearly endless variety of fine dining that you would expect in such a highly affluent resort, with prices to match, of course. Palm Springs doesn't belong to the "Best Party Towns in the World" club, but nighttime fun is plentiful nonetheless and, appropriately, "fabulous, dahling." Some is over-the-top and proud of it, like the nightly "Fabulous Palm Springs Follies" and the Annenberg Theatre's "Swinging Salute to Sinatra" cabaret. From there, you can find anything you want all the way to discotheques and grunge bars. Intimate settings abound, with piano bars, jazz and supper clubs, and coffeehouses peppering The Springs. Energetic sports bars face country-western saloons and VillageFest, each Thursday evening, is a year-round evening street fair with music, arts, crafts and food a shopping extravaganza right on Palm Canyon Drive. There is also a thriving gay scene, much of which runs along Highway 111 to the east in Cathedral ("Cat") City. Finally, Indian tribes operate several plush casinos that extend their diversions well beyond gaming to mineral hot springs, marquee entertainment, and dance halls.

This is an extremely well-done and well-documented romp through Sinatra's life. Ole Blue Eyes' career is laid out cleverly by Romaine Moody who kicks off the musical tribute via the favorite Sinatra standard, "It Was A Very Good Year." The show is a smart, fast-moving, must-see!.

The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies is a razzle-dazzle, song and dance extravaganza showcasing the music and dance of the first half of the 20th century. Set in the old vaudeville style, all of the professional cast û dancers and singers û are 54 to 87 years young!
