A desert scrub landscape dotted by palm oases and situated at 487 feet above sea level, Palm Springs is sheltered by the Little San Bernardino Mountains to the north and the Santa Rosa Mountains to the south. To the west is the towering Mt San Jacinto, rising 10,631 feet.
Palm Springs averages 350 sunny days per year. From January to April, the desert weather is at its best, with humidity-free daytime temperatures averaging 77°F. During summer, the mercury often tops 100°F but again, the total absence of humidity tempers the heat. These two "extended seasons" span the year, with no significant weather changes during spring and autumn.
