Orlando is landlocked in the center of the flat, sub-tropical Florida peninsula. Marshlands and citrus groves occupy much of the outlying areas.
The sun shines all year, and in summer (the Wet Season) frequent but brief afternoon storms are quickly followed by sunshine. Heat and humidity are high in summer but winters are mild with only occasional rain, and nights can actually be a bit chilly. The heart of hurricane season lasts from late August to early November, though strikes are rare and there is plenty of advance notice to prepare. When threatened by a hurricane strike, one should expect a 2-day displacement from evacuation to safe return.
October-May (Dry Season) Low 70°Fs to mid 80°Fs.
June-September (Wet Season) Upper 80°Fs to mid 90°Fs.
