Nevis's Topography

On Nevis, the highest peak is Nevis Peak, with a 3,000-foot elevation. The West side of the island is home to a coconut forest, and shares a stretch of coral beaches with the north shore. At the center of St Kitts lies the dormant volcano of Mount Liamuiga, with a 4,000-foot elevation. Rugged peaks and plunging ravines characterize the central mountain range, most of which is covered with dense rainforest. The low areas are dotted with plantations, grasslands, and fruit orchards.

Nevis's weather year around

Temperatures are typical for the Caribbean, ranging from 68° to 90°, with a year-round average of 79°. The Northeastern trade winds offset the heat, and water temperature averages 82° throughout the year. Hurricane season lasts from late August to early November, though strikes are rare and only last an average of two days, with plenty of advance notice to prepare.
