Manzanillo is a Pacific coastal town with 2 bays, one north and one south. The township is divided by the Santiago Peninsula, and is relatively flat with sandy beaches and palm trees. It's backed by plantations and mountainous rainforests with waterfalls. Above the landscape is a 12,000-foot volcano.
Manzanillo averages 350 days of sun each year, with tropical temperatures that rarely fall below 65°F. It is mostly dry from November to May and rainier in summer, though showers are usually brief and fall in the afternoon. The hills are slightly cooler and breezier. The heart of hurricane season lasts from early September to late October, though strikes are rare and there is plenty of advance notice to prepare. When threatened by a hurricane strike, one should expect a 2-day displacement from evacuation to safe return.
November-May (Dry Season) average 76°F.
June-October (Wet Season) average 82°F.
