Named after Queen Charlotte, consort of King George III, the Island's capital city is famous for hosting the 1864 conference that led to the creation of Canada. Today, the city is home to Victorian buildings, cultural centers, elegant homes, and peaceful parks. The capital boasts the best selection of inns and hotels, plus a wonderful selection of restaurants.
Known as the Land of Anne, Queens County is home to Cavendish, the home of the fictional character, Anne of Green Gables. Visitors find a wide array of Anne-related attractions, including an Anne tour at Green Gables itself, the Lucy Maud Montgomery Heritage Museum, and productions of Anne of Green Gables-The Musical.
The second-largest city on the Island has a beautiful waterfront with a self-guided tour arranged by the Eptek Exhibition Centre. The downtown area features an array of murals painted on the sides of buildings, most depicting local historical events.
This impressive park encompasses 25 miles of red-sand beaches, vast salt marshes, tranquil inlets, and wind-sculpted dunes. The park runs along the Island's north-central coast, and is the perfect place for hiking, biking, and relaxing on the beach.
